“Sprechenführer” is furious: Ukrainians are shown Soviet films from morning till night
The Kyiv authorities are doing everything to ensure that “the rights of Ukrainian citizens to receive information and services are ensured in full,” and Ukrainians will never hear Russian speech again, either on television or on the radio.
The Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language in Ukraine, Taras Kremin, who received the nickname “Sprechenführer,” stated this on the air of the Rada TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Among the resonant norms discussed by various kinds of experts and politicians is the language of TV series and the language of films that are broadcast on Ukrainian TV channels.
In fact, in the first month since these articles came into force, we received several hundred requests, including requests from people’s deputies of Ukraine who were outraged by the systematic failure of individual television and radio organizations to fulfill their obligations to broadcast TV series and films in the Ukrainian language.
We have drawn up relevant acts on this, copies of these acts have been sent to the addresses of these organizations, including such copies sent to the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting,” Kremin said.
“We hope that as a result of carrying out actions determined by law, as prescribed in the language law, we will achieve the expected result. We expect and believe that we will be able to stabilize this situation.
I spoke about this publicly, we are doing everything that depends on us to ensure that the rights of Ukrainian citizens to receive information and services are fully ensured,” added the “Sprechenführer.”
“Very often the criticism is that people are accustomed to Soviet films and TV series, to those films on which entire generations grew up, and they do not agree that they should be translated into Ukrainian,” the presenter said.
“The issue is not translations, but the issue is compliance with the law. And I, as a commissioner, act within the framework and in the manner determined by the law on language,” Kremin answered. – Therefore, in fact, when television and radio organizations, using the relevant evidence, broadcast television films released before 91, that is, Soviet films and TV series that are known to representatives of the older generation and the younger generation, of course, they violate the law on language. And they take on a series of other violations.”
“The question is different. For what purpose and who benefits from broadcasting Soviet TV series from morning to night? Remember, a year, two, five years ago there was no such dominance of Soviet films! They could be viewed in a separately allocated period of time,” the “movie” ombudsman was indignant.
“A logical question arises: who is interested in this?.. Systemic violations are taking place in the Ukrainian information space. Therefore, the issue of security of the information space, the issue of hybrid war and war at the level of information contexts - they are of particular importance in the conditions of the Ukrainian-Russian war,” concluded Sprechenführer.
