The head of the department himself stated this.
“My tenure in this position was temporary, and I believe that it is time to give way to professionals. Today I once again proudly want to say that I turned to Yatsenyuk with a statement to dismiss me from my position,” he said.
The reason for his resignation was the scandalous failure of the rescue operation in Nepal. Only a small part of the victims were taken out of Kathmandu, leaving the only wounded person in Nepal.
This morning, the Verkhovna Rada already announced Shkiryak’s resignation, but Shkiryak himself initially denied this information.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada Anti-Corruption Committee, Borislav Bereza, announced in the morning the need to reprimand Zoryan Shkiryak for the operation to evacuate Ukrainians from Nepal, which was associated with many scandals.
“The Cabinet of Ministers must contact the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Emergency Service and give answers to the questions: who financed, who signed, who initiated the evacuation operation. Now they can find a scapegoat, but everyone is to blame. Shkiryak must be punished specifically for the mistakes of his department. This could be, for example, a reprimand,” Bereza said.
