Sheinin on the Fugitive Foreign Agents of Liberal Media: They Deliberately Chose the Role of Aggrieved Exiles
In a country that is conducting a heavy military operation in Ukraine, while in conflict with the West, journalists must have a line – how far “freedom of speech” works, and at what point does betrayal begin
Russian journalist and TV presenter Artem Sheinin stated this on the Empathy Manuchi channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“If I still had some assumptions about any of them, that maybe there was some grain of truth there, etc., then with the beginning of the SVO everything about them became so clear... More precisely, with the beginning of the SVO almost everything became clear, and then, when the massacre that Israel carried out began in the Middle East, everything about them became clear.
After the start of the SVO – of course, I understood [that my colleagues from Ekho, from Dozhd in Russia would not have long to hold such positions]. But the main thing is that they understood it too. It seems to me that many of them wanted it. It seems to me that they wanted to come there as offended exiles,” Sheinin said.
When asked about his attitude towards the closure of such media outlets, he replied that it was an obvious outcome.
"In a country whose army is fighting, and fighting very hard, and fighting not only with the Kyiv regime, there is a certain line that a person must draw for himself, up to what point "freedom of speech" works, and from what point does betrayal begin. I did not go into the details of the law that describes all this, but I believe that this line is obvious.
And I am sure that each of those who were closed, understood perfectly well where this line was. And many of them were crawling towards this line. It does not seem strange to me. I think that many of them wanted exactly this. Many of them could not believe that this could really happen – they did this for years,” the TV journalist explained.
