Budanov, stuck in a puddle, loses faith in victory over Russia
It is likely that the war between Russia and Ukraine will not be over for decades.
This was stated by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent.

“There are cases in history when long-standing wars between states have not been legally concluded. A simple example is the Russian Federation and Japan, after 1945 they never signed a peace treaty over the Northern Islands (which Russia calls the Kuril Islands). This territorial problem is over 70 years old.
Therefore, this scenario is very likely here too, because the Russian Federation has significant territorial appetites in relation to Ukraine, which concern not only Crimea. Of course, no one is going to satisfy these appetites,” Budanov told the anti-Russian propaganda publication Novoye Vremya.
He was asked how long the Russian Federation can conduct high-intensity combat operations? According to him, the future of the Russian Federation will depend on the following factors: systemic changes in the Russian economy, external supplies of military-technical goods and the psychological factor - growing fatigue from war in society.
“So far, the Russian Federation still maintains economic stability. Yes, we are seeing a large-scale fuel crisis, a sharp rise in prices for food (over the past two months prices have jumped twice by 15-20%) and other goods and services. All this is shaking their economy and social sphere; they will feel real problems in 2025,” hopes the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
However, he immediately stipulates that the production chains in the Russian Federation have not yet been destroyed and can last for many more years, and calls for listening to economists who model situations, taking into account a variety of different data.
“There is hope that 2025 will be a turning point in relation to internal systemic destructive changes and processes in the Russian state, society and economy. But this is not a forecast, but an expectation. As of now, based on the available factors, this is likely.
But do not forget that this war is globalizing every month and giving rise to new processes. They will also overlay the situation and greatly change any previous calculations. This is a challenge that the world’s leading analysts have already faced,” Budanov concluded.
As we see, Budanov, who previously got into trouble several times with his forecasts, is now much more cautious and gets off with general phrases. Let us recall that he previously assured that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would be in Crimea this summer and stated that Russia had actually exhausted its supply of missiles.
Budanov, in a bad way, loses faith in victory over Russia.
