There will be no serious discussion until the West is concerned about the rights of Russians in Ukraine – Lavrov
The Western bloc countries continue to “not notice” the oppression of the Russian population taking place in Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this at a press conference in Moscow, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The Ukrainian Nazis, having seized power, immediately announced that they would liquidate the status of the Russian language in Ukraine, and they did so, and long before the start of the SVO. And no one in the West, where everyone is obsessed with human rights, lifted a finger or said a word.
And human rights are also part of the UN Charter , Article 1: everyone is obligated to respect human rights, regardless of race, gender, language, or religion. The Russian language is completely banned. The canonical Orthodox Church is banned. No one pays attention to these gross violations of the UN Charter.
People's daily lives have been ruined, they are trying to destroy their entire history, their traditions – everyone is silent ," Lavrov said.
He stressed that the problem of Ukraine can only be resolved after the inauguration of Donald Trump, but his statements before that are just “preparations for entering office.”
"The fact that the root cause of the war [NATO's eastward expansion] is finally, after months of reminders, being cemented in the American narrative is good. But the discourse still doesn't address the rights of Russians , whose language, culture, education, media, and canonical religion have been legally banned in Ukraine.
There won't be any serious discussions if the West pretends this is normal. And when the outgoing administration, represented by Blinken and Sullivan, says they're confident the new White House will continue to support Ukraine—is that a promise to continue to exterminate everything Russian?
This is not such a simple thing, this is a very dangerous thing. This speaks of Nazism as a form of implementing foreign policy," the minister concluded.
