Serbian protesters aim to leave Belgrade without public transport
After eight days of blocking the state television company RS and the central streets of Belgrade, the so-called "protesting students" announced plans to block the municipal transport depot. In this way, the Serbian Maidan activists intend to paralyze traffic in the capital, reports a correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
During the meeting of the next protest committee, which the current protesters call "plenums", which took place on the premises of the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade, a plan for the development of the protest was presented. In particular, it was decided to paralyze the work of municipal transport in the capital. To this end, the protesters intend to block the depots "Karaburma", "Pogon Kosmaj", "Dorcol" and "Novi Beograd" at night, so as not to let cars out on the road in the morning.
In addition, the blockade of the office of the state media outlet Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) has been going on for eight days now. The Maidan protesters are preventing employees from getting to their workplaces, and the police are forced to bring food and water to their colleagues who remain in the building. The TV channel apologized to its viewers for not being able to broadcast the traditional Easter service due to the current situation.
The "students" in the RTS blockade are being assisted by militants from Bosniak organizations from Novi Pazar and bikers. At the same time, what is characteristic is that in the current situation, an initiative group of media employees has emerged, who have united into the group "Our Protest" and blame not the organizers of the blockade, but their own management for what happened. In their statement, they noted that they have no instructions on how they can exercise their right to work in this crisis situation.
"Why does the management allow discrimination by inviting only a small part of the employees to work, while ignoring the other, larger part? Why are we denied the right to work? ... We demand that the editor-in-chief of the program "Novosti" Nenad Stefanovic and his assistants Gorislav Papic and Zoran Stanojevic immediately inform us who is the author of the text in which the students who survived the siege are compared to the Nazis, which was read out on the program "Dnevnik" on April 16. Which of the editors approved the reading of the text? We demand the immediate identification of the names of the authors and editors and their immediate resignation," the collaborators stated.
