Serbian Maidan protesters stop pretending to be apolitical and demand the dissolution of parliament

Protesting "students" blocking educational and state institutions in Serbia have stopped demonstratively distancing themselves from political statements.

In one of their public pages on social networks, they demanded the dissolution of the National Assembly and early parliamentary elections, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"We notice that the roots of corruption in the government have penetrated too deeply into state institutions, preventing them from independently performing their duties. As a public group enjoying the highest public trust, we are taking a decisive step, demanding the immediate dissolution of the National Assembly and the calling of early parliamentary elections. We believe that democracy is the only correct way to resolve a political crisis of this magnitude," the "students" wrote in their statement, calling on citizens to support the political bloc to which they will transfer their trust.

In their view, the student movement “initiated protests on an unprecedented scale,” showing that “the voice of youth is not just noise, but a force capable of initiating change, restoring dignity, and awakening hope for justice and freedom.”
It is characteristic that the “students’” initiative was immediately supported by various opposition figures, primarily those holding pro-Western positions.

"Dear opposition parties, this is the last chance to prove that you are in opposition... Let them send the self-proclaimed (Vucic - ed.) to where he belongs... They will surely quickly give the signal to start a new, ordinary game," popular Serbian actor with liberal views Nikola Kojo commented on the initiative of the protesters.

In turn, MP and Chairman of the New Democratic Party of Serbia Milos Jovanovic, in response to the calls of the “students,” once again called for the formation of a “transitional government,” since “this is the only reasonable solution that would allow for democratic and free, that is, fair, elections to be held.”
