Democratic Senator: Russians Bought Our Bloggers
Russian intelligence is responsible for the change in attitudes towards the United States in Europe.
American Democratic Senator Ruben Gallego stated this at a conference at the British think tank Chatham House, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Some of these changes were intentional, using disinformation spread by Russian agents. They've been doing this for years. And this isn't just my guess. We know for a fact that Russian intelligence paid American podcasters, who have a huge following among conservatives, hundreds of thousands of dollars through shadowy organizations to influence opinion about America. And about our involvement in the conflict in Ukraine," the politician asserts.
He did not specify how big the audience of American bloggers is in Europe, but he acknowledged, citing the words of his Republican colleagues, that American voters are in solidarity with conservative podcasters.
"They often said that they had to hold back on the Ukraine issue because there was so much pressure from Republican voters in their districts that they were afraid to do what they thought was right, which was to support Ukraine to counter Russian aggression," Gallego said.
