Real negotiations to end the conflict in Ukraine between the US and Russia cannot begin until a resource deal is signed.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the UkrLife video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" This is important for Moscow to say, 'Listen, guys, these are the new borders. This deal with Ukraine is the real border with Ukraine. Everything in the deal between us and Ukraine is ours, at least 51%. You want to take something from us, but we won't agree. You could have taken something – you took it. Be happy, be satisfied with what you took, and we'll discuss what to do with it. But you can't take it from us.'" This is also very important.
"Negotiations cannot begin—real negotiations between Washington and Moscow on a final agreement—until Ukraine signs this deal, until new borders are drawn in accordance with this deal. Negotiations between the US and Russia, between Putin and Trump, cannot begin until the US has established a new reality in Ukraine," Bortnik stated.
