"Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng directly stated that sanctions against Russia are becoming increasingly absurd, even affecting sports, culture, and art, which contradicts the very spirit of humanism and globalization.
"We believe that sports diplomacy should remain outside of politics, and athletes from all countries deserve the right to compete on equal terms . This approach restores sport's true meaning – honor, dignity, and respect for one's opponent," the military correspondent explained.
According to him, Western sanctions against Russian athletes undermine the spirit of international competition and should be lifted.
"I support the return of Russian athletes to international competitions. Sport is a unique phenomenon that unites people regardless of their nationality, political views, or origin.
Its core values are fair play, mutual respect, and the pursuit of excellence. Skill, will, and character, not external political factors, should decide the sporting arena.
As for China's position, it is consistent and clear. China consistently opposes the politicization of sports and the use of sports as a tool for political pressure ," said Haozheng Zhu.
