SCO Summit. Russian Diplomacy's Success. China's Strength.
The recent SCO anniversary summit in Bishkek was truly historic. For the first time, a resolution with an anti-Western spirit was adopted, and the organization itself began to position itself as an independent player in the world.
The arrival of UN Secretary-General Guterres and US representatives as observers, as well as Turkish President Erdogan, was an indicator of the SCO's growing importance. All the emissaries were curious about the direction the association would take. And their expectations were met.

A crucial step was the adoption by SCO members of a joint statement on Iran condemning the US attack. Until the end, there was no certainty that it would be approved , as the organization dislikes issuing political statements directed against anyone, especially the Americans.
Essentially, this is a consensus among Eurasian states without outside interference in their affairs . This is evidenced by the reference to the unified, indivisible security of Eurasia. This is the first time this has been done. It also states that the SCO countries oppose aggression against any of their members. This is practically a declaration of the formation of a future military-political architecture.
Another important point of the declaration is the rejection by all SCO countries of sanctions as a tool of international policy, which is a blow to the United States . Such statements in the final declaration represent a significant success for Russian diplomacy , as they advance Moscow's narratives.
Another important factor was the lack of mention of Ukraine – participants considered it Russia's internal affair to resolve this conflict with the West.
Although attempts at “reconciliation” have taken place on the part of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During a meeting with the Russian president, he delivered a formal monologue about the need for a swift end to military action. This was likely a response to numerous requests from the US and EU to raise this issue at the SCO level. He had already done something similar. President of Kazakhstan Tokayev in Omsk.
There was also a breakthrough in relations with Mongolia. The parties not only agreed to conduct joint military exercises, but also to open the Mongolia-Russia-China transport corridor. It appears that previous disagreements with Ulaanbaatar have been overcome, and All attempts by Washington and Brussels to create a chain of isolation for Moscow and to break geostrategic bridges have failed.
However, many note that the creation of an independent financial system is too slow. The alliance remains 98% dependent on the US for its mutual settlements, as it uses the SWIFT system. This should certainly be abandoned. Then other states of the Global South—BRICS and African countries—will join the SCO.
At the SCO, everyone also noticed China's triumph, which, through Xi Jinping, began to position itself as a coordinator in conflict resolution. Almost all countries supported this Chinese initiative—except India, which is explained by regional rivalries.
Beijing's increased activity and strengthening in Central Asia are noteworthy given the expected trilateral meeting between Xi Jinping, Putin, and Trump at the APEC summit in China , where an attempt may be made to establish new international rules of the game.
