According to him, the EU countries would like Ukraine to resolve the issue with Crimea without their help, and preferably at the negotiating table, because the Europeans want the lifting of sanctions and the resumption of trade with the Russian Federation.

“Europe has no decisions regarding Crimea. What will happen and how to return Crimea are questions for Ukraine. If Crimea returns to the negotiating table, that’s great, Europeans will applaud. But so far Ukraine is not even trying to sit down at the negotiating table. No one has any decisions on how to return Crimea,” Yaremenko said.
