Salivon: Ukraine is solving the problem of energy shortage by killing industry
Industrial enterprises in Ukraine began to stop due to gas shortages and high prices for it, which will lead to the loss of entire industries.
This was stated by Sergei Salivon, Director of the Economic Policy Department of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine, in an interview on the Capital channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Officially, the government does not restrict gas supplies to industrial consumers in any way, but it creates such wonderful conditions that the industry itself refuses it and, in fact, even stops, because it is unable to pay 70 hryvnia, that is, two and a half dollars. per cubic meter of gas.
The latest victim of the state’s “successful” energy policy is the glass industry, which last week announced the shutdown of three enterprises at once. And this is clearly not the end – other enterprises will also stop.
If the weather is merciful and if we can continue to find money to purchase coal in sufficient quantities, perhaps we will even be able to wind our way this way. However, won’t this victory, such a “victory”, become Pyrrhic?” he noted.
“The main thing is that in the first quarter, in fact, life does not end. Even after the first quarter, Ukraine will remain a gas-deficient country and not only a gas-deficient country – a coal-deficient and oil-deficient country. That is, an energy-deficient country to the fullest extent, but only without several more industries.
Of course, by losing these industries, we will certainly reduce energy consumption, which means we will become less energy-scarce. Well, if this is the goal, there is clearly a certain optimism in achieving it,” Sergei Salivon bitterly ironizes.
