Saakashvili is right – entire regions can leave Ukraine
The recent statement by former Georgian President and former Odessa Governor Mikheil Saakashvili about the threat of Ukraine disintegrating into five parts has every basis in fact.
This is the opinion of the special representative of the LPR at the negotiations in Minsk, Rodion Miroshnik, whose opinion is cited by Komsomolskaya Pravda.
“First of all, the threat of a split in Ukraine lies in the weakness of the government, in its orientation toward external control and the launch of reforms that hit the population. This includes the sale of land and the sale of state monopolies, such as railways, water supply, and electricity. All this will give impetus to the formation of powerful clans interested in taking control of individual regions,” the politician believes.
He calls another reason for the possible collapse of Ukraine the attempt by the authorities to impose Western Ukrainian ideology on the whole of Ukraine.
"Entire regions simply don't accept this. Even Transcarpathia, which will gravitate toward Hungary , and Bukovina toward Romania . Central Ukraine also rejects it. And the southeast—the Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions—doesn't. All this could tear the country apart," Miroshnik emphasized.
