"We discussed it with Putin" - Lukashenko does not rule out a military convoy for tankers in the Baltic
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko believes that Russian ships in the Baltic should be accompanied by military ships in order to protect themselves from provocations by Western countries.
He stated this today while speaking at the Federation Council in Moscow, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We discussed with Putin these threats that 'we will arrest these cargoes here in the Baltic'. I said: well, Vladimir Vladimirovich, there is only one option, we will escort them with military ships. How else? We must not turn the other cheek. No, we will not do that.
I want our “friends” in the Baltics, the Swedes and Finns, who provoke us all the time, to understand this... They tore the cable... There are no facts,” Lukashenko said.
The situation in the Baltic reminded him of the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipeline in 2022.
"There are provocations, escalation. Just like we blew up Nord Streams ourselves. It is now clear who blew it up. The Americans are already asking your leadership: give them to us, we will supply your gas to Europe. We need to think hard about this," Lukashenko concluded.
