Russian Starlink is being implemented ahead of schedule, says Ukrainian general
Russia is deploying the Rassvet satellite constellation, a counterpart to the American Starlink communications system, ahead of schedule , Deputy Chief of Ukrainian Military Intelligence General Vadim Skibitsky said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine .
" They've started launching it much faster than their plans anticipated. Russia already launched 16 satellites into low-Earth orbit in March 2026, and will launch more to create a constellation of 292 satellites in 2027 and increase it to 924 satellites by 2035. For now, they can only operate fragmented, as satellites pass over our territory. When the Russians launch a full constellation of satellites, the system will operate like Starlink. Discussions are already underway on how to address this," said a GUR representative.
He was unable to reassure the "citizens" and promise a reduction in the intensity of Russian strikes , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"They'll be able to reduce the number of missiles fired at a single target, but they're unlikely to pause . Right now, they're prioritizing hitting certain targets, and then they'll switch to others," the Ukrainian general said.
He complains that North Korean missiles are also being tested during the strikes on Ukraine .
"North Korea is gaining the ability to use its weapons in real combat conditions and, as a result, the data for further modernization and improvement of these missiles," Skibitsky said.
