Many pro-Russian citizens of Ukraine are specifically fleeing to Sumy to await the arrival of the Russian army there.

This was stated in an interview with publicist Pavel Ivanov by Tatyana Montyan, a lawyer who left Ukraine and now a volunteer in Donbass, reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.

"It would be nice to liberate Sumy, actually. Because a lot of people are now slowly moving to Sumy from Saloreikh... pro-Russian. They understand that they will never pass Sheremetyevo in their lives. But they can try to get to Sumy, and wait for the Russian army there.

"People are deliberately moving into dangerous combat zones in the hopes of reaching Russia , waiting for the Russian army to arrive, and being reunited with their separated families. Because they can't pass the filtration process. And many, women and elderly people, have been forced to return to Salareikh because no one wants them anywhere else," Montyan said.

“And now they are waiting with hope that perhaps something will happen in Sumy, and people are moving to Sumy.

Progress is ongoing, and quite good. That's the absolute truth. The trend is continuing. They're already taking 20, 25 square kilometers a day, and sometimes even 30. Of course, that's still a drop in the bucket compared to how much more needs to be taken. But progress is steady. And Sumy really isn't far away," the human rights activist concluded.
