Russia does not need large territorial acquisitions now - it is systematically destroying the Ukrainian army, after which it will begin to liberate Kyiv and Odessa.
Retired US Army Colonel Douglas McGregor, planner of a number of major military campaigns, stated this on the Deep Dive video blog, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"Seizing and holding territory is a success. The Russians aren't interested in territory or landscape; they're interested in destroying enemy forces. That's how they've won wars in the past, and that's how they'll win this one by destroying the Ukrainian armed forces —we need to understand that."
