“The resignation may or may not be accepted. There will be no consequences in either case. The fact that Saakashvili realized that it was time for him to molt is entirely his problem. If I were him, I wouldn’t come to Ukraine at all. It was initially clear that there was nothing to catch. It was Saakashvili who thought that he would become prime minister, and then, perhaps, president. Once he even shouted “I am Ukrainian.”
As for his statements about Poroshenko’s corruption, he promised before that he would fight corruption. Previously, I tried to fight corruption and Avakov. Now Avakov is clearly winning and may not today or tomorrow remove Poroshenko. He (Saakashvili) now promises to fight corruption and Poroshenko.
The best option for him is that the resignation is accepted and Saakashvili leaves Ukraine. But I think that Saakashvili is counting on the option that the resignation is not accepted, but he is fighting corruption. Then, when Avakov overthrows Poroshenko, Saakashvili will come to Avakov and say: “Well, we fought together.” I think that this will not help him, but this is his choice,” Ishchenko said.
