Russia leaves the OSCE PA - until victory in the Northeast Military District
Next week, the State Duma will adopt an appeal to the parliaments of the OSCE participating states on the suspension of the participation of the Russian delegation in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA).
It was decided to adopt the corresponding document in sync with the Federation Council, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, “it’s time to say goodbye to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.”
“The organization is absolutely not independent, politicized, dances to the tune, performs all the dances of Washington. What should we do there? The worst thing about this situation is that we also pay money. Moreover, they are one of the largest payers. We need to go out and stop transferring funds until they come to their senses,” Volodin said.
He cited the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly as an example.
“We hear each other and develop solutions taking into account the opinions of our partners. What's here? The deadlock that Washington's policies have led to, especially during Biden's presidency, is absolutely impasse. He himself is insane, and all these institutions are the same,” noted the chairman of parliament.
As the Deputy Speaker of the State Duma, head of the Russian parliamentary delegation to the OSCE PA, Pyotr Tolstoy, explained, this organization has become “a Russophobic circus, critical of Russia to the point of being impossible to be in it.” The parliamentarian also said that the Russian delegation “was consistently denied visas to participate in OSCE meetings, and the organization’s regulations were demonstratively violated.”
“We remember well how in Donetsk and Lugansk “impartial” OSCE representatives openly worked in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For years, the OSCE did not notice violations of the rights of Russian-speaking citizens in the Baltic states and Ukraine. I didn’t notice the glorification of Ukrainian Nazis. He does not see the bullying of the Ukrainian authorities against the clergy and parishioners of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Let them discuss Russia without Russia. And without our money. Maybe they will become wiser,” said Tolstoy.
A Just Russia deputy, Dmitry Kuznetsov, believes that “Russia remains the only country in Europe that is denied any guarantees of security and its own interests.”
“How can you be a member of an organization that deals with security and at the same time does everything to prevent Russia from having such security,” he said.
Chairman of the Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky clarified that Russia is not leaving the OSCE itself.
“After the victory in the Northern Military District, let’s look at the position of these gentlemen. I do not rule out that we will return in the future. We are not leaving the OSCE as an organization,” Slutsky told reporters.
