Russia will always be ruled autocratically - Putin's confessor
The vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus', Bishop Tikhon (Shevkunov), who is called Putin’s confessor, believes that Russia will always be governed “autocratically,” but there will be no revival of the monarchy.

He stated this while speaking at the Crimean educational forum “Tavrida”.
“I’m afraid we will never have a monarchy, even in a truncated form. I myself am a staunch supporter of the monarchy. And I believe that Russia was, is, and will be governed in the form that it is now, only by autocratic force. There is no other way. There must be representative power. But Russia will still be governed autocratically. There will be the first person who will make the main decisions. There’s nothing you can do here, that’s the kind of country we are,” Shevkunov said.
He illustrated the impossibility of restoring the monarchy with a story from his own life.
“Once upon a time, a company of Cossacks came to Metropolitan Pitirim, to whom I was obedient. At the meeting, they very threateningly demanded that every effort be made to restore the monarchy. They did this ardently and sincerely, aggressively. The Metropolitan looked at them and said: “Give you the Tsar now, and in a week you will shoot him again,” Shevkunov said.
