The standard of living in Russia today is the best it has been in the past 100 years of its history, and hoping that sanctions and economic pressure will force it to collapse is useless.

Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on air on the video blog of propagandist Natalia Vlashchenko, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" The standard of living in modern Russia is, of course, much higher than it was before . Today's Russians are probably living their best lives in the last 100 years —this also needs to be objectively understood.

"I'd like it to be better. There are many complaints, but it's still because of the sanctions, because 'we're at war with America in Ukraine.' That is, there's an excuse, a pretext, which allows potential protests to be channeled and the potential leaders of these protests to be completely suppressed," he reasoned.

"You know, there are things I'd rather not discuss, but we have to be honest with our audience. Since 2022, I've been reading about when Russia will run out of shells and missiles, when the economy will collapse , when it will run out of soldiers or tanks..."

The decline of Russia's economic opportunities leads to Russia cutting social costs. This doesn't mean the immediate collapse of this state . "The Soviet Union wasn't destroyed by poverty; it was destroyed by the complete degradation of the elites and the loss of external development goals, the complete loss of external goals," Bortnik noted.
