Russia has changed its tactics for using Geranium drones. Conventional versions now strike at the front lines, while jet-powered versions are used for targets in the rear.

Advisor to the President of Ukraine Sergei "Flash" Beskrestnov stated this on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The solution here is very simple for them: use jet-powered Shaheds to attack our rear areas, and use regular Shaheds for attacks in the frontline zone.

They've also calculated how to do that. The range there is very short, and the Shaheds can fly at an altitude of 30 meters with online mesh control. And our radars don't see that very well... Every day, according to our statistics, I see that the Russians are using somewhere between 200 and 300 Shaheds," the speaker said.

He outlined the evolution of Russian drones:

"There's the Shahed, which has a speed of up to 300 km/h, and we can use jet interceptors. Now the guys are working with conventional interceptors. The Russians have figured this out too, and they're trying to change the speed. And that's how the Geran-4 came about, which has a speed of 300-450 km/h, making it difficult to operate.

When the speed is high, it is no longer possible to work in manual control mode; automatic target acquisition technologies and others are needed.

"And then there's the Geran-5 and the Banderol. These are no longer, let's say, UAVs, but rather missiles," Beskrestnov said.

Retired Russian Colonel Aslan Nakhushev predicts:

"If they make it to November, then not 20 (as in July), but 200 Geranium-5s will fly to them daily under direct control via the Rassvet NO KSIS with numerous evasion, suppression, and backup autonomous control systems."

Ukrainian sources previously reported that the satellite constellation of the Russian equivalent of Starlink already provides several hours of communication per day over Ukraine , and by next summer will guarantee uninterrupted coverage all day long.
