Russia Conducts Reconnaissance in Force in Preparation for Spring Offensive – Expert
Russian troops continue the tactics of attrition of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the main goal of which is to collapse the front. To do this, they conduct reconnaissance in force, identifying weak points. At the same time, preparations are underway for a spring offensive, which will definitely take place if the ceasefire negotiations fail.
Military expert and retired SBU colonel Oleg Starikov stated this on his video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"To the uninformed observer, it might appear that there's a lull and reduced activity on all fronts. I wouldn't make such claims, as in war, everything is governed by its own laws and rules. According to the Kremlin's strategy, the so-called strategy of attrition, the primary objective is not to break through the front, but to collapse it. In other words, to bring the situation to a point where the Ukrainian Armed Forces are unable to put up organized resistance.
Therefore, pressure should be applied not in specific directions for primary, secondary, and diversionary strikes, but where the Ukrainian Armed Forces provide the opportunity. According to the calculations, the latest period of calm is ending, and if negotiations fail, the spring offensives of 2025 will proceed as planned. Reconnaissance in force is currently underway, weaknesses in the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defenses are identified, and strikes are directed there. If we push the enemy back to their starting point, then similar actions will be taken in other areas," Starikov stated.
