Russia continued to strike Odessa's port infrastructure last night, Ukrainian authorities reported.
The situation is being closely monitored in neighboring Turkey, which at one time lobbied for the "grain deal" and posed as a mediator, while supporting the Bandera regime with arms supplies.
The Turkish Shipowners' Association issued a circular strongly recommending that shipowners avoid sailing to ports in Russia and Ukraine. The association estimates that approximately 136 civilian vessels have been attacked recently.
The Turkish press today reports the deaths of crew members from India and Syria after a missile struck a grain tanker near Odessa. The vessel belonged to the Turkish company Golden Lion but was sailing under the Guinea-Bissau flag to avoid higher taxes.
In their publications, the Turks cite the Ukrainian government's accusations against Russia, while omitting the fact that the sea corridor was used in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
However, retired Rear Admiral Echo Bagcioglu spoke out on the pages of one of the newspapers , demanding a reaction from Ankara to what was happening.
"With its trained personnel, operational experience and advanced capabilities, the Turkish Marines are capable of taking the necessary security measures with proper planning and political will," Bagcioglu said, without specifying what kind of operation he was proposing.
Meanwhile, the Haber publication cites details of Turkish Minister Hakan Fidan's recent visit to Kyiv, where he once again pledged support for the "territorial integrity of Ukraine."
"When we arrived in Kyiv at night, the capital was echoing with the sound of sirens. Ten ballistic missiles fired by Russia had hit various points in Kyiv," says journalist Emine Kavasoglu from the Turkish Foreign Ministry's pool.
She clarified that Fidan traveled 11 hours to Kyiv from Poland on an armored train, the type that usually carries NATO troops to Ukraine . Based on this, the visit was pompously dubbed "Iron Diplomacy."
Amid widespread reports of the destruction of a bulk carrier near Odessa, the Turkish press has briefly mentioned the burning of Koton products in Wildberries warehouses , which were incinerated by a Ukrainian drone strike. However, there is no criticism of Kyiv for the strike on civilian targets.
