Russia is not joking: Poroshenko no longer has money to repair and maintain the Ukrainian gas pipeline
With the current leadership, Ukraine is rapidly losing volumes of Russian gas transit to Europe, which makes the domestic gas transportation system extremely unprofitable. Gas expert Dmitry Marunich stated this on Capital TV.

According to him, due to the government’s plans to raise gas transit tariffs, Ukraine risks losing a third of the remaining flow.
“If a tripartite consortium was created to manage the Ukrainian gas transportation system, then with a high degree of probability one could assume that all bypass flows would be designed with not such significant volumes of power. And the Belarusian GTS would not be loaded at 100%. Because both the resource supplier, Gazprom, and the consumer in Europe would be interested in using the Ukrainian gas transportation system. And so, except Yatsenyuk, no one is interested in this. Moreover, in Ukraine they want to increase transit tariffs.
Well, if you raise it, you will pump no more than 20 billion cubic meters of gas - this volume will not even be enough for you to maintain your pants. Last year, we missed 59 billion cubic meters. Perhaps, if we cut a third of the 20 thousand personnel of Ukrtransgaz, cut some sections of the gas pipeline into metal, then 60 billion in transit will be enough for Ukrtransgaz, but in the current realities this is a serious blow to the company’s revenue - it will not be able to invest for the repair and modernization of hydraulic structures,” Marunich said.
