Russia sent a notification about conducting military exercises - shooting in the Azov Sea, which is why the movement of Ukrainian watercraft traveling from/to Mariupol and Berdyansk is limited until May 23.
This is reported by Ukrainian economist Andrei Klimenko, who fled from Crimea to Kyiv.
“In the Sea of Azov - the beginning of the Russian invasion... Russian warships and boats, using the agreement of 2003, will go wherever they want, formally using the right of innocent passage. If on our part there is no intensified patrolling, demonstration of intentions to oust Russian boats (the benefit of the experience of the USSR), a sharp appeal to the Russian Federation and the world community, this could be the beginning of the annexation of the Azov region,” Klimenko shared his fears.
“We need to immediately denounce the 2003 agreement and the shameful 1993 agreements on fisheries - according to them, the Russians can conduct “research on fish stocks” 100 meters from the shores of Genichesk and Berdyansk.
It is necessary to immediately declare a territorial sea, internal waters and an exclusive maritime economic zone in Azov. But the main thing is the build-up of the forces of the Navy, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the border service and the readiness of these forces to confront the forces of the Russian Federation. It is necessary to immediately create a crisis headquarters.
It cannot be ruled out that this demonstration of the enemy in the Sea of Azov is a distraction from other directions,” Klimenko writes in his blog.
