Russia can bankrupt the IOC in court, but it won't
Russia will “gnaw at its return to the Olympic family” by any means necessary, including “political and legal threats.”
Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev stated this to the Central Channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"For example, here's the last thing we told our foreign counterparts. We spend money on training athletes: feeding them, educating them, providing medical care, training camps, and some of them receive salaries if they're on national teams.
"So let's calculate how much money we've lost over the years of Russia's suspension... If we do the math and file a lawsuit in a Swiss court, the IOC will be bankrupt," Degtyarev said.
He clarified that such a lawsuit is already prepared, but it won't have to be filed because Russia is "on the brink of recovery." The minister hopes that the Russian team will perform with the national anthem and flag at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
