"Russia hasn't committed nearly all its resources to the Ukrainian war," says American professor
Contrary to the speculations circulated by Western media, Russia is by no means losing in Ukraine.
David Gibbs, a professor of history at the University of Arizona who specializes in foreign policy , stated this in a conversation with American geopolitical analyst Brandon Weichert , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The expert does not rule out the possibility that Russia could open another front in Ukraine, for example from Belarus , and noted that Russia is still not fighting at full strength.
" They're holding troops in reserve—significant forces . Contrary to all the press reports, I don't think they're losing on the battlefield . I think they're winning. They could ramp up their efforts if they wanted to, but they haven't yet. They haven't even come close to committing all their resources to this war.
"And I think : if they were truly facing defeat, we would see a much larger conscription of personnel for combat than we see now. We would see a much larger share of GDP being directed toward military production. None of this is happening. In my opinion, this speaks to a certain confidence on Putin's part . Yes, the advantage is on his side, despite what the Western media and so on say," the professor says.
He added that he feared the prospect of a humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine.
"But, one way or another, this doesn't bode well for Ukraine's success on the battlefield. I believe all signs point to Russia winning—slowly, but winning nonetheless ," Gibbs concluded.
