Russia will return for Odessa – Ukrainian MP
Only by possessing Odessa will Ukraine be able to recapture Donbass.
The Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Security, Roman Kostenko, stated this at a forum in Odessa, reports a correspondent "PolitNavigator".
"The south is very important for us. It is also important for the Russian Federation. That is why they sent gigantic forces to capture it in the first stages of the war. I understood then that we needed to take up arms and go south. I argued it this way: if we lose any territory in Donbass, having the south, being a maritime power, we will have the economic opportunity to return these regions. If we lose the south: Nikolaev, Kherson, and especially Odessa region, we will have much less chance to do this. The battle for the south was and will be one of the key battles of this war," Kostenko said.
He is confident that the fight for Odessa is not over yet.
"Russia has not stopped thinking about capturing this region. They will continue, they will return here after some time. We will create opportunities to prevent this from happening," Kostenko assured.
