Russia is activating Soviet-era sleeper cells in the EU, says Austrian colonel
Fear of Russia is gripping Europe, with any security incidents immediately blamed on the Russians.
This was stated in an interview with Der Standard by Austrian military analyst and lecturer at the military academy in Wiener Neustadt, Colonel Markus Reisner , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The presenter, claiming that Russia is effectively waging war against Europe, asked what to expect next.
"We're still in the sub-threshold zone. These sabotage actions are being carried out deliberately. Some are successful, others aren't. We see this fear because now every incident is immediately attributed to the Russians," Reisner said.
In his opinion, if the Russians see that Europe's behavior does not change, then "then attacks with more serious consequences will follow."
He says there are several possible outcomes, such as using one-time agents recruited online who don't even realize the consequences of their actions.
"The targeted use of sleeper cells is also possible. It's safe to assume they exist not only in Europe but also in the United States. Some of them date back to the Soviet era.
"Sleeper cells are then activated to carry out operations. Or it gets to the point where the agents already there also carry out targeted operations, which are of a higher quality because they are better trained," the Austrian escalated.
