Russia has the moral right to blow up a gas tanker belonging to a Western country after NATO-backed Ukrainian saboteurs carried out a terrorist attack against a Russian vessel in the Mediterranean Sea.
Former intelligence officer and professor at MGIMO's Department of Applied Analysis of International Problems, Andrei Bezrukov, made this statement during a discussion at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Even without a nuclear war, God forbid, we actually have a huge range of options. Well, take the fact that all of Western Europe is now dependent on imported gas. Do you know what a gas tanker explosion is? They staged that. A gas tanker explosion is the equivalent, if detonated correctly, of a small nuclear explosion. They should understand this. And that means someone should tell them about it. Tell them frankly, openly. They've simply lost their fear," Bezrukov stated.
He called for "stopping being good."
" We're very good for our enemies. We're slow. We let them do a lot, and they're not afraid of us because many, many of the 'red lines' we discussed remained on paper ," the intelligence officer recalled.
At the same time, Bezrukov urged, it is necessary to radically restructure the control and protection systems.
" We need to ensure that our new critical infrastructure is protected. This means that our oil storage facilities, communications hubs, data centers, and so on must either be buried underground or protected , just like our nuclear power plants. We need infrastructure that can survive the war they're forcing upon us."
Next, we need to restructure the governance system. We need Headquarters . Because only Headquarters can ensure coordination at the highest level while simultaneously delegating a huge amount of authority downwards."
