Constant rumors about a pending deal with the West regarding Ukraine are having a demoralizing effect on the Russian army.
Retired Colonel Anatoly Matviyuk stated this on the Red Line TV channel , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"There are influential forces that don't want the SVO to take place, and they're doing everything they can to disrupt our plans and return to 'business as usual.' The worst thing for the army, for the soldier or officer sitting in the trenches today, is listening to news from Abu Dhabi or Moscow and not being able to understand what's going on ."
This undermines the army's morale when the authorities begin to waver and make decisions that are incomprehensible to the army. The most dire situation for an army entering the battlefield is one without clear guidelines for the authorities to determine.
Our army doesn't have these landmarks today. Its orders are limited to one thing: take that high ground, take that small town, and so on.
But today, unfortunately, the army is shaking its head and asking, "What's going on in the negotiations?"... The worst thing is moral disarmament. And, unfortunately, it's happening ," Matviychuk stated.
Retired Colonel Viktor Baranets agreed with him:
" The word 'deal' makes me sick. There can be no deal in military affairs. In military affairs, there can be either defeat or victory. And we must be focused on victory, declare victory, and direct all our efforts toward victory ."
