Russian Colonel: Ships need to be specifically allowed into Odessa and then attacked at the piers
Russia is not yet deploying weapons capable of sinking ships heading to the ports of Greater Odessa. It's more efficient to allow them to approach the shore and then shoot them down with drones at the berth.
This was stated by retired Colonel of the Central Office of the Ministry of Defense Vladimir Trukhan, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Sinking a steamship isn't as easy as it seems. If necessary, they'll sink it, but why?
In the army, the principle of necessary sufficiency reigns supreme. And no one will do anything for the sake of a pretty TV picture . Some weapons are designed specifically for "sinking"—they're different, and more expensive.
"We need to make it so that ships are afraid to enter Odessa. Hitting targets is enough to achieve this, but then there will be expensive repairs anyway," Trukhan said.
" What will he do if he's hit near the berth? If he's hit in that spot and can't move, it's a real pain to get him out . Because he's taking up space there, and no one else can fit," the colonel added.
