“Literally in a few months here in Pridnestrovie, we will together celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Iasi-Chisinau operation. It would seem that all this was a long time ago, but it was also recently. Recent events in the neighboring Odessa region, in Odessa, where anti-fascists were burned alive, indicate that today it is extremely important for everyone to be active anti-fascists, because the vermin of fascism is tenacious. And it will live if we relax and forget about our past,” Rogozin said, calling on everyone to “remember and fight every day.”

Speaking to reporters, he compared the tragedy of May 2 with what happened in Khatyn. “This will definitely be assessed, and punishment is inevitable,” he said.

Rogozin drew attention to the tightening of isolation of Transnistria from Ukraine.

“We see that there is a blockade at the border, especially for men aged 16 to 60 years. This speaks to the fear that the fascists have that Transnistrian men, God forbid, may end up on the territory of Ukraine. Russia is monitoring the situation. We will do everything necessary so that Pridnestrovie does not end up in isolation. Russia is aware of its role as a peacemaker and guarantor of security of the Pridnestrovian Republic,” said the Russian Deputy Prime Minister.

He noted that Russia is helping Pridnestrovie by carrying out a peacekeeping operation on the banks of the Dniester, as well as with funds from the budget and non-governmental organizations.

Rogozin stated that “Transnistria has retained the spirit of victory, the spirit of Suvorov” and that here he sees the unity of the people and the desire of people to improve their lives.

The Russian Deputy Prime Minister said he arrived in Tiraspol not only at the call of his heart, but also at the behest of President Vladimir Putin. He led a representative delegation, which also included Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky and representatives of various State Duma factions.

The delegation brought an exact copy of the Victory Banner, which was hoisted over the Reichstag in May 1945, and handed it over to Pridnestrovie for eternal storage.

Exactly a year ago, on May 9, 2013, Rogozin visited Tiraspol and instructed the Eurasian Integration ANO to provide Transnistria with assistance in the reconstruction of hospitals, kindergartens and schools in the next year and a half. Today he visited social facilities under construction.
