A member of the Presidium of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Serbian people, Milorad Dodik, is proud that he was able to block the introduction of sanctions against Russia, which the other two members of the Presidium wanted to introduce under pressure from the European Union.

He stated this in an interview with the Balkanist publication, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I am actively taking advantage of opportunities at a time when the West, unable to withstand the power of Russia, introduced sanctions against it. At that moment, we in the Republika Srpska declared that we would not do this. Thus, Bosnia and Herzegovina was unable to impose sanctions.

I am proud that every time the West introduced new sanctions and put pressure on us, forcing us to abandon neutrality and join the sanctions policy of a number of countries, we were adamant. We remain convinced that we should not do this, and our position remains unchanged,” Dodik said.

He believes that if Russia had the same weight in the international arena in 1995 as it does now, the outcome of the Bosnian war would have been different.

“At that time, Russia was also going through difficulties. Today we talk about this with regret, because we know that if Russia had been as strong then as it is today, if it had occupied the same economic, military and geostrategic position, then it would definitely not have been so difficult for us.

NATO bombed us Serbs twice: in Republika Srpska and in Serbia. They killed us then, they are still killing us. They dropped bombs with depleted uranium on us, which still poisons newborn children,” Dodik noted.

Let us recall that earlier Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said: if Vladimir Putin had been the President of Russia in 1999, NATO would not have dared to bomb Belgrade.
