Russia can successfully counter Ukrainian drones.
Retired colonel and military expert Konstantin Sivkov stated this on the Red Line television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"What's the problem? Why did they even pay attention to them? Because it's impossible to protect a drone from electronic warfare; it's easily suppressed. Why aren't they being suppressed now ? Well, firstly, cable-controlled drones have emerged, but it's possible to develop means to cut these cables. On the other hand, the majority of drones still operate via radio, so they're easily suppressed.
But if you're going to suppress it with a focused beam, you need the appropriate means— a highly focused beam that will suppress the drone. But you could do it the easy way: you could take an electronic warfare station, using the "nothing to you, nothing to us, nothing to anyone" principle, and disable all the drones. Barrage jamming and that's it. But, excuse me, we're also used to drones. If they have 10 drones flying there, and we have 20, then by disabling those drones, we lose more than they do. That's basically the whole point of all this. Yes, unmanned aviation will develop, but to say that drones are the solution is complete nonsense," Sivkov said.
