Donald Trump's reduction of gratuitous military assistance to Ukraine in 2018 by 50% does not mean that America will not continue to support the Ukrainian army, but now for money - for example, on credit.

“...Trump’s initiative to reduce costs for allies may turn out to be a tentative step towards the implementation of the principle of “security for a fixed price”, which the American leader so loves to promote. The most important thing remains behind the scenes - the terms of the concessional loans that the United States will provide in exchange for gratuitous assistance,” the publication writes.
“Kiev, which began to urgently rearm itself with American equipment, simply has no alternatives... Within the framework of the FMF program, many countries, including Ukraine, received a large amount of equipment and weapons that need regular maintenance and modernization,” the author of the material clarifies.
However, the change in the situation does not bode well for Donbass.
“Kyiv has been asking for Javelin anti-tank systems for a long time. As part of his gratuitous assistance, he was denied them. However, if the Ukrainian side wants to pay for its military needs on credit, albeit in installments, Washington may change its mind,” the newspaper warns.
