“The end to Donbass may come faster than we think”
Britain's exit from the European Union could speed up the resolution of the Donbass problem, since one of the remaining EU leaders, France, is committed to normalizing relations with Moscow.
Ukrainian political analyst Vasily Vakarov stated this on air on the Ukrlife channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“After Britain left the EU, there were two leaders left - France and Germany, and they will first of all look at their continent... It’s not for nothing that Macron has been saying for six months that relations with Russia need to be strengthened. And in Warsaw, by the way, he said, and this was positively assessed by Moscow, that the Red Army had won. ...He says we need to be friends with Russia so that Russia does not slide towards China,” Vakarov noted.
In his opinion, it is impossible to solve Europe’s problems without solving “European problem number one” – the conflict in Donbass. Both Germany and France clearly understand that this issue needs to be resolved with Russia.
“Geopolitics is turning towards solving the Donbass problem. The solution will come from the top down, not from the bottom up. The pressure on Ukraine will increase. Putin understands this very well. He needs pragmatic solutions with both Donbass and Ukraine. The denouement may come much earlier than we can imagine,” Vakarov emphasized.
