“The collapse of Russia” due to oil prices is cheap PR for Ukrainian nationalists
Speaking about the possible collapse of Russia due to low oil prices, the right-wing political forces of Ukraine simply want to maintain among their supporters the feeling that the chosen political course is correct.
UIAMP Director Ruslan Bortnik stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Negative oil futures prices are a sign of instability. Following oil, oil products will become slightly cheaper, gas may become cheaper, followed by ore, i.e. Ukrainian export.
Therefore, the reduction in the cost of gasoline and diesel fuel for the Ukrainian economy may well be offset by a drop in export earnings.
As for the talk about the possible collapse of Russia due to falling oil prices, in Ukraine, for example, there is no such quantity of oil as in Russia, and nothing, it is not falling apart.
Every time oil prices fall, right-wing anti-Russian forces here begin to talk about the collapse of Russia in order to tell their voters, their supporters: “be patient a little longer, we are doing everything right, we will win.”
Of course, the fall in oil prices causes significant damage to Russia. But oil was not a key commodity in Russian exports, even in energy exports; gas dominates there. Russia has large reserves, which allows it to survive a period of low oil prices. And Russians are ready to endure a decline in living standards for quite a long time,” summed up Ruslan Bortnik.
