Russian engineers have developed numerous counter-drone technologies, but officials are reluctant to implement them for fear of liability.
Political scientist and drone developer Alexei Chadayev stated this on the "Purity of Understanding" podcast, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“All these losses, even after Ust-Luga, Tuapse and everything else, they are still afraid to take the initiative to organize this very defense.
So, the oil companies are afraid of being accused of building private armies, the governors are afraid they'll be held responsible for everything from now on , and the security forces are passing this around like a hot potato because everyone understands that none of them can handle it on their own. And then, in fact, they'll have to coordinate with everyone else. Our approvals are in a real mess.
And that's precisely why, even now, we essentially have no one responsible for on-site anti-drone security. There's a ton of technology out there, a whole bunch of it. There's no customer for these solutions.
"Our Ushkuynik center was established specifically as a technology development center, primarily for counter-drone systems. However, all of our successes are tied to strike capabilities, while everything we've done and continue to do proactively in the area of facility defense is just sitting there, waiting for our superiors to agree on who's in charge, " Chadayev stated.
Chadayev previously stated that Russia is technically lagging behind Ukraine in terms of drone range. This is due to the lack of reliable communications like Starlink.
