Lvov peasants swear at those delivering summonses and don’t open the doors
The sixth wave of mobilization in the Lviv region is more difficult than all previous ones, and people are fleeing conscription into the army like “the devil from incense,” Radio Liberty reports.

“Today, according to the military commissars, only half of the required number of men have been drafted,” reports Radio Liberty. “And of the number of contract soldiers, 40% are women. In more than 360 settlements, according to the regional prosecutor's office, not a single person has been mobilized. 11000 people avoiding service are wanted... Most of the men left for seasonal work, some are simply hiding, changing their place of residence. Military commissars even ask priests to talk with believers, and they themselves hold meetings with communities.”
“When there are some holidays, people run around in embroidered shirts, say: “Glory to Ukraine,” patriots sit in bars, drinking a glass, but when they come to the military registration and enlistment office, patriotism disappears. There are two village councils where one hundred people liable for military service live. 20 men were conscripted from one village, not a single one from another,” laments Deputy Military Commissar of the Lvov Region Boris Andreev.
Radio journalists found out that we are talking about the village of Khitar, Skolevsky district, where the chairman of the village council did not hand over a single summons. According to the village council secretary Olga Lemkalovich, her boss is on sick leave, and she explains the problem by the reluctance of the peasants to take summonses.
“We handed out summonses,” Lemkalovich assures. “They call us such obscene names in every house.” They don't open the door, they don't talk. Nobody wants to go. We cannot do anything if people work in Russia or elsewhere. Parents don’t want to sign anything when we come with summonses. When the situation started in the east, they started leaving.”
As a result, the prosecutor's office blamed the failure of mobilization on the chairmen of village councils, who were supposed to notify people about the conscription.
“And the main reason for the failure of mobilization in the region, the prosecutor’s office of the Lviv region believes that city and rural leaders have withdrawn themselves from conscription,” notes Radio Liberty. “After all, they don’t want to conflict with residents, especially before local elections.” According to the military commissars, the chairmen of village councils provide false information about their residents, saying that the men are abroad, but they are actually sitting at home, usually without work.”
