German society is divided into those who sit at home on government support, and those whose lives are actually ruined by the lockdown.

“Let's take two contenders for the post of Chancellor of Germany, Mr. Laschot and Mr. Söder - the Prime Minister of Bavaria and the Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia. They both declare loudly, without fear of anyone, that it is necessary to purchase Sputnik-V, because the European vaccine does not work well enough in Europe. Vaccination of the population is insufficient without additional sources, without additional products, like Sputnik-V, which has proven itself very well in Russia, Serbia and other countries,” Rahr said.

At the same time, he added that at the moment in Germany, if one part of society feels comfortable under lockdown conditions, the other is actually on the verge of suicide.

“Indeed, 70 percent of people, unlike Russia and other states, where people demand the lifting of the lockdown and opening, the provision of economic freedoms, here 70 percent of the people are for Merkel, for there to be a lockdown. Why? Because the state has been giving them money over the past 12 months. It’s just that Germany has taken on huge debts and is helping people who have stopped working and who are sitting at home with cash. True, this money is running out now,” the political scientist explained.

“But there is another 30% of people who are exhausted by this lockdown. These are large families who live in small apartments and are already going crazy because of these closures. Or these shopkeepers, representatives of medium and small businesses, who were forced to close stores and not earn their money and many of them went bankrupt, deaths here are increasing in a different form, suicides. People are going mentally crazy because of this. They go to demonstrations, tear off their masks, and, of course, it’s not contentment that grows,” added Alexander Rahr.
