Rada renamed Mukachevo

The Verkhovna Rada renamed the city of Mukacheve in the Transcarpathian region to Mukachevo.

Parliamentarians supported the corresponding draft resolution with 234 votes.

The explanatory note to the resolution states that the renaming was initiated by the residents of the city “due to the need to correct an error that occurred when assigning the name to the city after the annexation of the territory of the current Transcarpathian region into the Ukrainian SSR.”
