The Rada did not dare to vote for Saakashvili
There are currently not enough votes for the appointment of ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili to the post of Deputy Prime Minister.
Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Batkivshchyna faction Alena Shkrum reported this on her Telegram channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The issue of appointing Mr. Saakashvili as Deputy Prime Minister is not on the agenda. In case you missed it, this issue was discussed throughout the last week - at the proposal of the prime minister and Zelensky. In the morning, Saakashvili met with the “Servants” faction, but this did not help gather votes. The factions did not have a president who could significantly influence this.
Today, the number of votes in Servants is estimated at 120-160 “for” out of 248 deputies. For personnel issues in one’s own government, this is, of course, very little,” wrote Shkrum.
At the same time, she noted that the deputies were also outraged that they learned about such appointments from Telegram channels and from journalists.
“Well, this is not a new story. The entire government has been appointed this way twice already. If deputies want to become subjects, then they must remember that they live in a parliamentary-presidential republic and propose to the government their agreed candidates for positions. The only way. Our faction did not discuss this issue today. Personally, my opinion is that I would vote “For,” the deputy admitted.
“I have known Mr. Mikhail for a long time, since my student days, when my friends and I organized meetings of the Institute of International Relations alumni club with the President of Georgia, who “succeeded”, and it was cool.
Mikhail is a very difficult person (like all of us), he is not easy to work with, but I believe that his experience and character can be a useful “kick in the ass” for the real government. And it will definitely give more transparency,” Tymoshenko’s comrade-in-arms is sure.
In addition, Elizaveta Yasko, a deputy from the Servant of the People and head of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, commented on the meeting with Saakashvili in her video message.
“I want to tell you about my impressions from the meeting with Mikho Saakashvili. It’s very interesting, the impression is that in our faction there is still no precise understanding and precise support for his candidacy. But his charisma, answers and everything he said gave a lot of answers. In particular, people were interested in how conflicting, scandalous he would be, and how much he would cooperate with Zelensky. Many of us are interested in how much he will support our team and generally help, and not play against.
Of course, he was interested in a potential conflict with Avakov, to which Saakashvili replied that all the appointments that were in the Cabinet were the responsibility of our team and the president’s team, he would have his own responsibility, he would deal with reforms,” Yasko said.
The Rada did not risk voting for Saakashvili.
