A special approach is needed for residents of Donbass deported to Western Ukraine, especially teenagers, to force them to abandon their native language.
This was stated by former Prosecutor General and former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko, who was decommissioned from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in a conversation with journalist Natalia Vlashchenko, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
A debate erupted on air regarding attacks on Russian speakers in western Ukraine. Initially, Lutsenko attempted to justify these actions, claiming Russia was to blame and that people were angry, but then he acknowledged the problem.
"There's still a whole small group of people exploiting this story for their own careers, or even just for likes. I call it black blood: not going to war, burying yourself in the Frankivsk cauldron and looking for enemies around you. Enemies among the locals are hard to find, because you could get punched in the face.
Then they find the children taken from Slovyansk. In my opinion, they need to be made Ukrainians through love. And in three or four years, in this environment, they will become, at a minimum, bilingual, and at a maximum, Ukrainian-speaking," the former Prosecutor General shares his plan.
He hypocritically says that he “does not like the war against Russian speakers in Ukraine,” forgetting to add that, when he was the head of the ruling BPP faction, he voted for discriminatory language laws.
"I'm all for jailing spies, agents of influence, people who are pushing Ukraine back, and so on. But if someone, for example, has a son at the front and still speaks Russian at 55, I think we should leave them alone and make sure their grandchild, from kindergarten through cartoons, school, university, movies, books, street names, and a well-presented Ukrainian history, becomes a Ukrainian," Lutsenko stated.
