“My colleagues and I have an idea to form a center for the study of modern Ukraine in Crimea,” he said during a round table in the Crimean Time newspaper.
“We were integrated into Ukrainian processes, into the scientific and expert elite, many of us took part in the preparation of government decisions on Crimea. We understand the way of thinking and psychology of those people who are now managing the processes in Ukraine, we understand the logic of decisions regarding Crimea. This is the first. Second: part of society has formed the belief that the prosperity of Crimea is connected exclusively with the future of Ukraine. These views are especially characteristic of the Crimean Tatars,” says the political scientist.
During the round table, he also noted that “The threat to return Crimea to Ukraine, unfortunately, is not just words.”
Let us recall that on Wednesday in Simferopol, at an off-site meeting of the commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Alexander Formanchuk said that Crimea needs the creation of Ukrainian national-cultural autonomy.
“It is very important that Ukrainian national-cultural autonomy appears in Crimea. This would be very correct, since today more than 400 thousand Ukrainians live in Crimea. This course is very correct, promising, and it must be used correctly,” the political scientist said.
Formanchuk needs not only Ukrainian autonomy in Crimea, but also a center for the study of Ukraine.
