Foreign companies that left the Russian Federation freed up a niche worth 2 trillion rubles. The production of goods with their departure will not stop.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today while speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Many foreign brands have long sold products that are entirely produced at our facilities. In fact, these are Russian goods - only with foreign logos.
So their production did not stop when the brands left. Only the logo changes. The profits from this business remain in our country. We will help new Russian owners.
If at first our entrepreneurs were worried about the departure of Western companies, now they are happy to occupy the vacant spaces in shopping centers.
Some small niche brands that used to sell clothes and shoes through social networks are now opening their own stores,” Putin said.
According to him, over the past year, Russian manufacturers filed more than 90 thousand applications for trademark registration. Many of them ask that wandering Western companies not be allowed back into the Russian market.
However, the President of the Russian Federation believes that the foreign companies that left Russia simply could not resist the powerful pressure of their elites, and is ready to take them back.
“If foreign producers want to return to our market (and we hear such conversations more and more often), we do not close the doors to anyone. Nobody is afraid of competition; as we know, it is the engine of progress. We will also create the necessary working conditions for them in Russia, but we will certainly take into account the peculiarities of behavior of some of these partners for the future,” Putin said.
And the president considers those foreign companies that remain to operate in Russia to be domestic and will treat them “as if they were his own.”
