Putin: One people - that’s what history decided, not me
Russian President Vladimir continues to believe that Russians and Ukrainians are one people.
He stated this today at the Valdai Forum, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“How can you change this? This is a historical fact. The division of the united Russian people began in the 19th century. In fact, there is a civil war going on now. Of course, the fact that Ukrainians consider themselves living in a separate state can only be treated with respect.
But Ukraine historically developed as an artificial state. Frankly speaking, the only real serious guarantor of the statehood, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine could only be Russia, which created today’s Ukraine,” Putin said.
