Putin: Donbass had every right to separate from Ukraine. Zelensky is illegitimate
The LPR and DPR had every right to separate from Ukraine; this is in accordance with international law and the right of people to self-determination.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this at a press conference at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"There is a decision of the International Court of Justice - this is a precedent created by Kosovo... When a part separates, this part is not obliged to turn to the central government for consent. That's it! They did it all with their own hands. You can do it, but here they can't? It won't be like that. The rules must be uniform, then they will be stable," Putin said.
According to him, Russia is ready for peace negotiations with Ukraine.
"I am ready to meet with anyone, including Zelensky. The question is who will sign the documents... If this is the final stage, so as not to sit there and endlessly divide something, but to put an end to it. But the signature must be from the legitimate authorities. Otherwise, the next one will come and throw everything in the trash," Putin said.
He recalled that Volodymyr Zelensky's term of office had expired.
“He is elected for five years; there are no ways to extend it, even under martial law,” Putin said.
The President clarified that Russia and Ukraine are agreeing on a new meeting of negotiators in Istanbul after June 22.
“We are ready to hand over about 3000 more bodies,” Putin said.
